Laketown Animal Hospital would like to welcome our newest doctor, Aaron Felgenhauer DVM! Dr. Aaron started with us at the end of July and he is already garnering rave reviews from clients and staff alike.
Originally from Georgetown, Illinois (near Danville), Dr. Aaron grew up with a pet Schnauzer named Muffy. Caring for Muffy and taking her to the vet on a yearly basis proved to be the inspiration for him to pursue a career as a veterinarian. After graduating high school, Dr. Aaron attended the University of Illinois, where he majored in Animal Science. He then enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Illinois, earning his DVM degree 2008.
Dr. Aaron has been a practicing veterinarian for over a decade and says he wouldn't be where he is today without the support of his parents, Godmother, and some wonderful teachers along the way. He started his veterinary career practicing in Danville, Illinois and then moved to St. Charles, Illinois to further his career and hone his diagnostic skills. Dr. Aaron has a special interest in internal medicine. He loves to 'solve the mystery' and does this in part by using diagnostic test results to come up with a diagnosis and treatment plan for his patients.
Dr. Aaron moved to the Springfield area to be closer to his daughter and he is looking forward to becoming an active member of the community. He chose to accept a position at Laketown because of the excellent quality of care provided by the doctors and staff. He also loved the way the doctors at Laketown all collaborate on cases, providing a team approach to medicine. In his words, 'Laketown is run like a human hospital, and that is great!'
In his spare time, Dr. Aaron spends as much time as he can with his family, especially his daughter who is starting school this fall. He enjoys traveling, fishing, and playing golf. He also loves following sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and the Fighting Illini.
We have been calling him "Dr. Aaron" at his request because he jokes that it is easy to mispronounce "Felgenhauer". The funniest attempt he has heard is "Flaygenflower", so he has decided that "Dr. Aaron" is easier on everyone. If you're near Laketown Animal Hospital, stop in to welcome Dr. Aaron to Springfield! We're glad to have him here as part of our team!
Dr. Aaron will be seeing patients by appointment Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and every other Saturday. Of course you can also schedule with Drs: Peterson, Fisherkeller, Morris, Luthin, or Blakemore. Call, email, or use our Pet Desk app to set your appointment today!
